Reha's Report

Dear Scott School Families,

I'm hopeful that 2022 brings joy, prosperity, and good health to each of you. Students transitioned back after the two-week break without a hitch and are off to the races with continued learning and classroom fun. This week, students participated in our school-wide winter Acadience benchmark testing to evaluate the growth they've made in foundational reading skills since our fall benchmark testing. I'm eager to review our school-wide data and will be sure to share the results with families in an upcoming Scott Spotlight. Students will also complete NWEA testing starting the week of January 24th to take a look at students reading comprehension and math growth. The results will also be shared with families. Even though we're halfway through the school year, we have a full calendar year of memory making and good times ahead. Please join me in making the most of 2022! What are your hopes and dreams for the new year?

Important Note: NWEA is audio for second graders, so if your child is in second grade, please send in earbuds or headphones if you're able to. We do have a limited supply at school for those who need them.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to the many families who have continued to work with us in partnership during these difficult times. In my 25+ years in education, I've never experienced times such as these. Please continue to give grace and be understanding as all of our educators and staff are working diligently to make sure our students' needs are being met while continually adjusting to COVID protocols, including creating learning slides and at-home work for students in isolation and quarantine.

Lunch Assistant Needed

Have you ever considered working for DeWitt Public Schools? Scott School is looking for a Non-Instructional Assistant to join our terrific team and work in our lunchroom two hours a day. The role includes engaging and supervising students and washing tables. Free Breakfast & Lunch Opportunity

DeWitt Public Schools is participating in the Seamless Summer Option as part of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs this year. This means that every child can access a free school lunch and/or breakfast each day. Read the attached document for more details, and please be sure to complete and submit the necessary paperwork for Free and Reduced Lunch because this information determines the amount of state and federal funding our school receives.

There will only be one lunch choice this year, and it will be a cold, boxed option. Stay tuned for an updated menu to be posted on the district website soon. At this time, students will not be able to purchase only milk. We are hoping to add this option at some point in the year.

Medical Forms

In order for Scott School personnel to administer medication to your child, parents/guardians must:

Submit a completed district medication form to our office.
Be sure all medications are brought to and stored in our office.
Be sure prescription medication is in its original container accompanied with a physician’s signature.
Be sure non-prescription medication is in its original container accompanied by a parent’s signature.
Please communicate with your child's teacher if he/she takes medication daily at school.
If your child has a medical condition, please be sure to complete a Medical Management Plan for your child and turn it in at the office.

Attendance Line

When your child is absent, please call the Scott School Attendance line: 517-668-3458. Substitute Teachers cannot access a teacher's email, so please call the office when your child is going to be absent, will be dropped off or picked up outside of regular school hours, or has a transportation switch. Please call before 3:00 pm, for all after school changes.
