Reha's Report

Dear Scott School Families,

NWEA reports have been sent home with students today. Please check your child's backpack for his/hers and reach out to your child's classroom teacher if you have any questions. Also, a SignUp Genius was emailed to families today with instruction on how to sign up for a virtual conference with your child's teacher. Conferences are scheduled for March 15th and 17th from 4-7:30 p.m. Our DeWitt PTA is also working hard to put together Conference Cuisine meals for teachers those evenings. Thank you in advance if you're able and willing to contribute food or drink items for these two evening events. Our teachers are beyond grateful for a prepared meal since their time after school is limited to a half hour before conferences start.

As I've shared throughout the year, social emotional learning and teaching expected behavior has been an important focus of instruction at Scott School. Although you'll need to envision this linked document as a pamphlet, which it's intended to be, I hope you will take a few minutes to read through it and learn more about our positive behavior support system at Scott School. Also, please consider using our DeBug and Problem Solving Wheel at home to provide familiar language and problem solving strategies with your child as they navigate conflict resolution. Learning appropriate and successful techniques to regulate small and big emotions is a critical skill we want our students to learn. Thanks for your help!

With kindness,

Linda Reha

Panther Pride Student Spotlight

Third Grader Lindyn Pic

Lindyn is in Mrs. Greenfield's 3rd grade class. She attended the February Panther Pride Recess.

Each week every classroom at Scott School has a Panther Pride drawing from all Panther Pride slips earned by students for demonstrating respectful, responsible, safe, and bucketfilling behavior. Lucky drawing winners are invited to a Panther Pride recess or luncheon at the end of each month with Mrs. Reha and Mrs. Schwarz.

Spring Virtual Parent Teacher Conferences

Spring Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled for March 15th and 17th from 4-7:20 p.m. A SignUp Genius was sent to families today to sign up for a virtual time slot to meet with your child's teacher and/or specials teachers, our reading interventionist, special education teachers, and/or Mrs. Schwarz, our school social worker. We are excited to meet with families and to discuss school celebrations and areas of focus this year.

Also, our awesome PTA is seeking Conference Cuisine donations to provide meals for teachers on spring Parent Teacher Conference evenings. Your donation is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your willingness to help if you are able and interested. Here is the SignUp Genius to participate: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/904094ca8a928ab9-20222

Thank you!

Real World Writing

Every Friday, second graders in Mrs. Dennings’ class write a letter to their parents. The students write about the amazing things they are learning in class. Then parents write a letter back to their child. This process encourages the second graders to communicate about their learning, while also working on their writing skills!

Terrific "Twosday" 2-22-22 for Grade 2

Second Grade students at Scott School celebrated the historictic “Twosday” on 2/22/22 with exciting activities all day! Students learned about palindromes, counted by twos, shared pictures of themselves at 2 years old, and all sorts of other “Twosday” themed activities. What a fun, special day for our 2nd grade students!

Buddy the Education Support Dog

Buddy and his handler, Lolie, visit Scott School regularly to meet with students and classes. Scott School is also fortunate to have another educational support dog, Remy, and his handler, Ashley, come to Scott School on a regular basis too. Here are some pictures of Buddy, Lolie, and students.

Free Breakfast & Lunch Opportunity

DeWitt Public Schools is participating in the Seamless Summer Option as part of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs this year. This means that every child can access a free school lunch and/or breakfast each day. Read the attached document for more details, and please be sure to complete and submit the necessary paperwork for Free and Reduced Lunch because this information determines the amount of state and federal funding our school receives.

There will only be one lunch choice this year, and it will be a cold, boxed option. Stay tuned for an updated menu to be posted on the district website soon. At this time, students will not be able to purchase only milk. We are hoping to add this option at some point in the year.
