Reha's Report

Dear Scott School Families,

Our last big on site experience will be Field Day the last week of school  Please read further down in this newsletter about guidelines to help your child have a successful Field Day experience and protocols to follow if you or any adult family member plans to attend to watch on this special day.  It is important to adhere to the visitor guidelines for they help us put on and maintain a safe school environment.

As a friendly reminder, Scott School will be undergoing a lot of remodeling projects both inside and outside on our playground.  Thank you for understanding that we will not be open except to pick up medication the week after school dismisses.  We are excited to show off all the remodeling projects in the fall and are especially excited about central air conditioning throughout the building, lots of new furniture and carpeting, and new playground equipment.

It has been a pleasure to serve students, families, and staff this year, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to continue to serve as Scott School principal for the 2024-25 school year.  To our families moving on to Herbison Woods, good luck to you.  I will miss your child and family.  To our families returning to Scott School, have a great summer.  I will see you in the fall, and we can start a new chapter in the history books of Scott School.  Thank you all for your support and trusting me and our team with your student.  It has truly been a joy and a gift.

With gratitude,

Linda Reha

Scott School Principal

Rosalin's Reflection

Scott School Families,

As we approach the end of the school year, we have noticed an increase in behaviors and signs of fatigue among our students. This is a common occurrence, as children often experience a dip in stamina and motivation after a long school year. We want to provide some tips and strategies to help your child maintain their energy and finish the year on a strong note.

Key Tips for Supporting Your Child

Here are some evidence-based strategies to help your child maintain their stamina and

positive behavior as we head into the final weeks of school:

Ensure a regular sleep schedule. Consistent routines improve sleep and

behavior.

Recognize and celebrate your child's efforts and achievements to boost

motivation.

Encourage your child to express their feelings. Supportive communication

reduces stress.

By working together, we can help our students finish the school year strong. Implementing these strategies at home can make a significant difference in your child's stamina and behavior. Thank you for your continued support and dedication to your child's education and well-being.

Have a great end to the school year!

Sincerely,

Anna Rosalin

I-CHAT to Volunteer or Chaperone

All volunteers and chaperones must be cleared before an event through our District's I-CHAT background check process every year.  This process takes a few days, so please don't delay in completing it, so your report is processed and returned to the school in a timely fashion.

ID Requirement for Students to be Picked Up

Student safety is a priority.  Please bring proper identification each time your child is picked up from school.  Here are some ways adults picking up students can be identified:

Allergy Awareness

There are some Scott students who have health-threatening nut allergies in our building.  Scott School is a 'No Nut' building.  Pack items that do not contain nuts for your child's lunch and snack.  It is critically important that we provide a safe learning environment for all students, and your help with this is needed and appreciated.  Please always contact your child's teacher if you have a concern about an allergy or other health condition related to your child that they should be aware of.  Also, if your child has a medical need, including food or other allergies, don't forget to update your child's Medical Management Plan by completing and submitting the district forms to the office before school starts so we can follow protocols to keep your child safe.

Medical Forms

In order for Scott School personnel to administer medication to your child when we return to in person instruction, you must:

Medication and other medical forms can be found on our DeWitt Public Schools website.
